You’re in the right place

Where insights spark imagination and shifts take shape

The Middle Space is a coaching practice for women of colour navigating meaningful change in their work, leadership and lives.

You might be leading a team, shaping a new direction, carrying a difficult decision, stepping into greater responsibility, or questioning what you want next.

The circumstances differ.

The question underneath can sound remarkably similar:

How do I lead this without losing myself in the process?

That's where our work begins.

Coaching for women of colour leading change

The Middle Space is for women of colour leading change without wanting to lose themselves in the process.

You might be leading a team, a mission, a business, a transition, or a change that begins much closer to home.

Something is shifting.

The question is how to lead what comes next while staying connected to your values, your people and yourself.

This is where we work together.

Kia ora! Malo e lelei! I’m Hiria.

I'm an Indigenous coach, change-maker, professional dot-joiner, equity champion and agent for aroha.

For more than 20 years, I've worked wherever people, performance and change collide: coaching leaders, developing people and teams, shaping organisations, systematising for equitable outcomes, building capability, supporting big ideas and helping people find their way through things that don't come with a tidy instruction manual.

I've worked across boardrooms and community rooms, strategy and delivery, individual coaching and system change. And I've learned just as much from raising a son, transforming organisations, taking risks, changing direction, pursuing health goals and often discovering that my own advice applies to me too.

The thread through all of it has been a desire to become the best version of myself.

I'm fascinated by what we're capable of, what gets in our way, and what becomes possible when we partner with the right people.

The Middle Space brings those threads together, with a particular commitment to women of colour navigating change.

I won't give you a formula for becoming somebody else's version of a good leader.

We'll work with who you are, what you're carrying, what you know, what matters now, and what you want to make possible from here.

Start where you are.

Some change begins with a question.

Some with something that has been uncomfortable for a while.

Some begins when you finally admit what you want.

And some arrives because circumstances have changed before you're ready.

You don't need to know exactly what kind of support you need.

Bring what you're holding. We can start there.
